In Search of the Source-2

A very interesting, exciting, and easy-to-read account that chronicles some of the difficulties and triumphs involved in translating the Bible into a language in which it has never before been translated. Bible translators, Neil and Carol Anderson, invested over twenty years of their life translating the Scriptures for the Folopa people of Papua New Guinea.

One incident of great interest to me was when Neil Anderson overhead the prayer of one of the Folopa men to God…asking God to give Neil special insight into the Folopa language so that they might have His Word and be “in the light”.

Here is part of the prayer: “Concerning Héto Ali [the Folopa’s name for Neil],” he said, “You know we’re all down here on the ground in the dark. You teach Héto Ali our language so he can give us Your Word and we can be in the light.” [p.19]
